MUMBAI: Katrina Kaif will sing in the upcoming Bollywood move ‘Dhoom 3.’

This will be Katrina’s who is one of Bollywood’s leading actresses’ first time singing in a movie. Katrina will provide her vocals to a song composed by AR Rehman and has been busy rehearsing for her debut.

Her friends said that Katrina was always fond of singing but was scared of performing in public.

LONDON: The first track and field medals go up for grabs at the Olympics on Friday as American swimming superstar Michael Phelps chases his third gold of the Games.

With swimming due to complete its programme on Saturday, the transition to athletics begins at the 80,000-capacity Olympic Stadium with the women's 10,000m and men's shot put to be decided.

British athletics' golden girl Jessica Ennis will also make her entrance as the opening rounds of the heptathlon get under way, while Welsh 400m hurdles world champion Dai Greene also begins his preliminary rounds.

Former world champion Ennis, who most recently won silver medals in the 2011 worlds in Daegu, and world indoor pentathlon in Turkey in March, missed the Beijing Olympics through injury is under pressure to perform.

At the Aquatics Centre, Phelps will aim to consolidate his position as the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time in the 100m butterfly.

Phelps roared back to form on Thursday with an imperious victory in the 200m individual medley, consolidating his newly acquired status as the most successful athlete in Olympic history with a record 20th medal.

Elsewhere, Chinese long-distance swimmer Sun Yang will begin his quest for a second gold after his breakthrough win in the 400m freestyle.

Sun, who became the first Chinese male swimmer to win gold with his 400m free victory, opens his campaign to land the 1,500m, an event in which he set a world record last year at the Shanghai World Championships.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) declared the new contempt of court law unconstitutional.

The apex court today concluded hearing of 27 petitions challenging the Act and is currently announcing its verdict. The court ruled that several sections of the new contempt law were in contradiction of the constitution.

A five-member bench of the SC, headed by Chief Justice Chaudhry and comprising Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jilani, was hearing 27 identical petitions challenging the Contempt of Court Act, 2012.

SUKKUR: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed concern over the reduction of votes in the province according to the new voters list.

Speaking to reporters at the Sukkur airport, Shah said he was astonished that the number of votes had decreased despite the inclusion of thousands of new voters. He added that he would request the Federal government and the Election Commission to investigate this matter.

When asked about the general elections, Shah replied that they would be held on time and the PPP was preparing for them.

ISLAMABAD: The United States Congress has released $280 million in new assistance to support Pakistan’s energy sector.

According to a press release by the US Embassy in Pakistan, the funds will support improvements to Mangla Dam and infrastructure support and due diligence work on the Kurram Tangi Dam project.

The press release adds that relieving Pakistan’s energy crisis is a top priority for the US civilian assistance program. The US approach consists of high-impact projects aimed at increasing Pakistan’s energy resources and helping power sector institutions more effectively meet the country’s energy needs.
